After Tuesday night's game in Oakland, it was announced that Alfredo Simon is being placed on the bereavement list and will be traveling to the Dominican Republic to be with his sick father.
The Tigers are calling up Kyle Ryan to potentially start Wednesday's game, but it is uncertain yet whether Ryan will be able to join the team in California in time to make that start.
If Ryan is unable to start, the Tigers may have to dip into the bullpen right from the start of the game.
