Wings make staff changes, look to add more experience

Detroit — The Red Wings have posted a help wanted sign for more assistant coaches.

The team is not renewing the contract of longtime goaltending coach Jim Bedard, and have reassigned assistant coach Pat Ferschweiler to the press box.

The Red Wings had already been looking to replace assistant coach Tony Granato, who left to become head coach at the University of Wisconsin.

The changes were done, said Holland, after consulting with coach Jeff Blashill at the conclusion of the playoffs.

“As we talked we came to the determination would would make some changes to the staff,” Holland said.
