Wings in market for new goaltending, assistant coaches

Detroit — The Red Wings have posted a help wanted sign for more assistant coaches.

The team is not renewing the contract of longtime goaltending coach Jim Bedard, and have reassigned assistant coach Pat Ferschweiler to the press box.

The Red Wings had already been looking to replace assistant coach Tony Granato, who left to become head coach at the University of Wisconsin.

Bedard had been goaltending coach for the last 18 seasons.

A possible replacement for Bedard could be Jeff Salajko, who has been the goaltending development coach for the minor league affiliate Grand Rapids Griffins.
