Wings Cut Roster By 2, Send Chelios and Rybar to the Griffins

Heading into its final pre-season game at 7pm tonight against the Toronto Marlies Maple Leafs, Detroit sent two players to the Grand Rapid Griffins: defenseman Jake Chelios and goaltender Patrik Rybar.

Detroit’s roster is currently at 38 players following these moves.

Defenseman Dennis Cholowski is not playing tonight, while the other young defensemen are. While this isn’t a guarantee that C-Lo (C-Low?) has made the opening night roster, it definitely looks like that’s the case.

With Trevor Daley unlikely to go on opening night, and Mike Green’s uncertain (to fans) timetable, it seems likely that one or more of the young defensemen in the lineup tonight will at least start the season in Detroit.
