Red Wings make first cuts as exhibition opener nears

Traverse City — The Red Wings made their first cuts of training camp Monday morning before the Red-White scrimmage, which will end this portion of the exhibition season.

The Red Wings assigned forwards Adam Marsh and Dominic Turgeon and defensemen Joe Hicketts and Vili Saarijarvi to their respective major junior teams.

Additionally, the team released 11 players from tryout agreements: forwards Nick Betz, Triston Grant, Connor McGlynn, Evan Polei and Jerome Verrier; defensemen Jalen Chatfield, Justin Lemcke, Jarett Meyer and Ty Stanton; and goaltenders Connor Ingram and Matt Mancina.

The Red Wings current roster stands at 57 players.
