Red Wings fall in OT as three-game winning streak snapped

BUFFALO, N.Y. - The Detroit Red Wings couldn't convert on their power-play opportunity in overtime Friday. The Buffalo Sabres capitalized on theirs.

Kyle Okposo swatted in a backhand shot from the net front with 26 seconds to play in OT, lifting the Sabres to a 3-2 victory at KeyBank Arena, snapping the Red Wings' three-game winning streak.

Detroit had an excellent chance when Okposo hooked Thomas Vanek in OT. Frans Nielsen was then called for hooking and the Sabres converted.

The Red Wings (20-19-7) earned a point and are 3-0-1 in their past four.

Ryan O'Reilly tied it at 2-2 with 4:09 remaining in regulation.
