Red Wings do not retain longtime assistant Bedard

Detroit — The Red Wings are looking for a few good assistants.

On Monday, the contract of long-time goaltending coach Jim Bedard was not renewed, and assistant Pat Ferschweiler was reassigned from his role this season behind the bench.

The Red Wings already been looking to replace assistant Tony Granato, who left for Wisconsin.

So, the Red Wings find themselves needing to find two assistants for coach Jeff Blashill, along with a new goaltending coach.

“As we talked we came to the determination would would make some changes to the staff,” Holland said.
