St. James goes a little into the logic behind the Witkowski signing. Apparently he’s a good guy. I don’t really care for the signing, but I think knowing who is being brought into a locker room on a personality level does have a little weight to it at this key transition time in the culture of the Red Wings. I say that with the caveat that no one ever won a hockey game because they have the most friends.
I don’t know why this should come off as such a novel idea. The art of coaching is changing and players don’t respond to getting reamed out by coaches like they used to.
