Tomas Jurco and Jeff Blashill had a meeting this morning, during which Blashill advised Jurco on how to gain a foothold with the Detroit Red Wings.
This evening's game at Joe Louis Arena between the Wings and Tampa Bay Lightning (7:30 p.m., NBCSN) is Jurco's first of the season, a chance to make an impression.
"I have to skate a lot and work hard," Jurco said. "That is what Blash wants from me. Maybe create some offense."
The Wings have 14 healthy forwards, with Darren Helm on the weekend horizon, though someone would have to come off of the roster for him to be activated.
