Marchenko joins fellow Detroit Red Wings on World Cup rosters

Alexey Marchenko has turned a solid appearance at the world championships into a spot in a reignited international tournament.

The defenseman was added to Russia's final roster for the World Cup, joining Detroit Red Wings teammate Pavel Datsyuk, who was named to the team in early March.

Other Wings already named include Dylan Larkin (North America), Petr Mrazek (Czech Republic), Henrik Zetterberg and Niklas Kronwall (Sweden) and Tomas Tatar (Europe).

Gustav Nyquist is likely to be added to Sweden's roster after he just scored seven goals at this month's world championship, and Tomas Jurco may translate a worlds appearance into a spot on the European team.
