Detroit Red Wings: Analyzing the Value of Mike Green

Much has been said about the Detroit Red Wings finally locking down a right handed defenseman for the first time since Brian Rafalski’s retirement. But with another debate raging about whether or not the risk/reward for his oft-critiqued defensive play is worth the offensive firepower, we’re going to look at a number of different variables in judging if the right wing shot is truly as valuable as its made out to be.

Mike Green has been coveted by the Red Wings for several seasons now, and in an ironic twist, was Washington’s draft pick only because the Wings traded their first round pick for Robert Lang.
