With Jackson back, SVG’s remaining quandary is better play behind KCP

Getting Reggie Jackson back should have been the last piece of the puzzle for the Pistons. But losing the other Reggie, Bullock, leaves Stan Van Gundy with one lingering question for his rotation.

To wit, what to do when Kentavious Caldwell-Pope needs a minute to catch his breath?

Caldwell-Pope holds the highest plus-minus rating on the team at plus 4.6. Discounting rookie Henry Ellenson, who hasn’t played enough to have a meaningful sample size, the two lowest plus-minus numbers on the team belong to Darrun Hilliard (minus 1.1) and Stanley Johnson (minus 1.4).

And with Bullock out – he had surgery to repair the damaged meniscus in his left knee on Saturday and will be sidelined until at least mid-January – Johnson and Hilliard are Van Gundy’s options unless he decides to give second-round rookie Michael Gbinije a shot.
