Pistons rookie Stanley Johnson’s mother passes away

Pistons rookie forward Stanley Johnson confirmed that his mother Karen Taylor has passed away.

Johnson, announced the sad news via a Tweet early Sunday morning.

Taylor, like her son was a standout athlete in college entering the Jackson State Hall of Fame in 2009 and even playing professionally between 1985-89 in Denmark, Sweden and Italy. Johnson was even coached by his mother until the age of 14 while giving her plenty of recognition upon being drafted by the Pistons eighth overall earlier in the Summer.
