Detroit Pistons officially sign Luis Montero

The Detroit Pistons officially announced the signing of Luis Montero to a two-way contract. The two-way contract allows Montero to play up to 45 days on the Pistons’ roster without counting against the 15-player roster. He’d also get a pay bump for any games played in the NBA.

The new two-way contracts were a part of the most recent collective bargaining agreement as a way to entice high level players to stick in the United States instead of agreeing to other offers overseas.

Montero will spend the majority of his time in the G-League, but he can’t be promoted to anyone’s NBA roster other than the Pistons.
