This morning I made the trek out to Auburn Hills to watch the Detroit Pistons open practice scrimmage. The fan turnout was solid, with most lower bowl seats filled from baseline to baseline well before the 11:00 am start.

In many ways it was a bit of a rough performance, considering it’s just one of the first few practices of the season for the Pistons, but a couple narratives from the offseason quickly took shape in the form of the positional battles between Stanley Johnson and Marcus Morris at small forward, and the shooting guard battle between Kentavious Caldwell-Pope and Jodie Meeks.
