Pistons nearly drafted-and-stashed last year

David Mayo of MLive:

The Pistons thought Spencer Dinwiddie was going in one of the final picks before he fell to them at No. 38 in the second round. If the Pistons hadn’t selected Dinwiddie, that pick would have been used on a foreign player they didn’t bring to training camp, Van Gundy said.

Vey interesting.

Dinwiddie was coming off a major injury, so the Pistons obviously didn’t draft him for what he’d contribute last season. But Van Gundy could have gone a step further and drafted someone who wouldn’t have even been on the roster.
