Allen Park — Cornerback Darius Slay, who ran a 4.36-second 40-yard dash at the combine, knows he could beat Calvin Johnson in a race. Corey Fuller, a college track star, thinks he'd make it close against the All-Pro wide receiver.
Besides those two speedsters, though, Johnson still is probably the fastest player on the Lions roster.
"He's just a freak of nature," safety Don Carey said.
After two seasons in which he was hampered by injuries, and with his 30th birthday two weeks away, there has been plenty of talk about Johnson slowing down.
