Lions' Ngata gets brain checked as football-concussion concern grows

Not a week goes by without a professional football player stopping by Dr. Jeff Kutcher’s clinic. Some are retired. Some are active.

They arrive at the Sports Neurology Clinic armed with questions and anxieties, dreams and uncertainties. They’ve either taken one too many hits or want to know how many more they can take.

The question is almost always the same: "Should I keep playing?"

Lions defensive tackle Haloti Ngata began asking himself this past season. In the winter, he decided he needed some answers. So he spent some time with Kutcher at his institute in Brighton.
