Lions led NFL in red zone efficiency this season, struggled elsewhere

ALLEN PARK, Mich. -- The Detroit Lions struggled offensively for most of the 2015 season. They ended up with the worst rushing offense in the league, a poor third down percentage, and were below the average in points per game.

But believe it or not, when the Lions got into the red zone, they were the best team in the league.

Detroit finished with a red zone efficiency rating of 69.4 percent, topping the Panthers by 1.1 percent. The rest of the top five --the Jets, Patriots and Bengals -- all had at least 10 wins.
