Lions cut Anthony Zettel to make room for Romeo Okwara waiver claim

ALLEN PARK -- Haloti Ngata, gone. Akeem Spence, gone. Cornelius Washington, gone. Jeremiah Ledbetter, gone. Tahir Whitehead, gone. Paul Worrilow, gone.

The Detroit Lions front seven has undergone a major overhaul this offseason. Now the defensive lineman who led them in snaps, who finished with the second-most sacks, has been added the body count.

Anthony Zettel, gone.

The Lions announced Wednesday afternoon they cut the former sixth-round pick to make room for Romeo Okwara, who was claimed off waivers from the Giants. With that, they've now cut 14 of the 16 defensive linemen who played a snap for them last year as they totally overhaul the scheme and personnel up front.
