Detroit Lions re-sign TE Tim Wright

The Detroit Lions brought back another one of their own free agents today, re-signing tight end Tim Wright.

The Lions initially acquired Wright in a training camp trade with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers last summer, and new general manager Bob Quinn is familiar with Wright from their 2014 season together with the New England Patriots.

Wright caught nine passes for 77 yards and two touchdowns in nine games as a backup to Eric Ebron and Brandon Pettigrew in 2015.

Pettigrew is recovering from a torn ACL, and his status for the start of the regular season is uncertain.
