To realize his future, Trey McBride became acquainted with the past version of himself.
Over the last two years, that meant trekking about 100 miles from Fort Collins to Castle Rock before CSU’s training camp. There, the Rams star and top-rated tight end in this year’s NFL draft class would stay a couple nights at the house of Joel Dreessen.
McBride and Dreessen, 39, are like the same player a generation apart. Both hail from Fort Morgan and starred at Colorado State as tight ends, with Dreessen spending eight years in the NFL (two with the Broncos).
