Far from a football field, DeMarcus Ware stood in a crowded department store Tuesday evening and felt completely at home.
Hidden behind a towers of bed sheets and cooking pans at the J.C. Penney at Park Meadows Mall in Lone Tree, the Broncos outside linebacker posed for pictures and met with 50 children from the Boys & Girls Club of Metro Denver. He surprised them — as well as some Broncos-loving bystanders — with a visit. Then he handed each a $100 gift card to spend on his or her holiday shopping list for family and friends, accompanying some as they tried on shoes and clothing in the store.
