The long-rumored possibility of the Washington Spirit playing a home game at D.C. United’s new stadium has been confirmed. Both clubs announced today that Audi Field will host a match between the Spirit and the defending NWSL champion Portland Thorns FC on August 25th at 7:00pm. A pre-sale for Spirit and United season ticket holders will start on May 1st, with additional pre-sales to follow.
The Spirit have left the home venue for this game open all season, and they’ve made no secret of their talks with United over hosting a game at Buzzard Point.
