‘This is a soccer town’: D.C. United owners lay out vision for future in new stadium

Coach Ben Olsen is on solid ground with the ownership group, despite a disappointing season and an air of change around the MLS club as it prepares to open a new stadium next summer.

United’s two principals detailed on Tuesday their plans for Olsen, along with a broader vision to build the team from a solid foundation of young stars, and to take advantage of the fresh revenue streams created by the opening of Audi Field without breaking the bank.

“We want to create our own big names and win,” Jason Levien said in a joint interview with business partner Erick Thohir, the team’s primary investor.
