Josh Sargent scores again as U.S. defeats Senegal at U-20 World Cup

>> Josh Sargent, a 17-year-old striker from the St. Louis area, scored his third goal in two matches as the United States defeated Senegal, 1-0, to move atop Group F at the FIFA Under-20 World Cup in South Korea. The Americans (four points) will close group play Sunday against Saudi Arabia (three).

Sargent struck in the 34th minute on a terrific turn in the penalty area after collecting a pass from Fulham’s Luca de la Torre. Jonathan Klinsmann (UC Berkeley) recorded the clean sheet while Erik Palmer-Brown (Sporting Kansas City) and Cameron Carter-Vickers (Tottenham Hotspur) locked down central defense for the Americans, who had drawn with Ecuador, 3-3, in Monday’s opener.
