It was senior day 2015, and as emotions flowed and she walked on a twice-repaired right knee in the pregame ceremony at Georgetown’s soccer field, Marina Paul turned to her parents and said she wasn’t done.

“Are you sure?” her mother Mara asked.

“I want to play again,” she answered.

It had been almost a year since she had torn her anterior cruciate ligament in the Big East women’s championship game and two months since breaching the very same ligament again. She was on track to graduate in six months with a marketing and management degree and a portfolio that included work for the ESPY Awards show in Los Angeles and Georgetown basketball media operations at Verizon Center.
