Beyond ‘nipple-gate’: CONCACAF looks into alleged bite during U.S.’s odd Gold Cup win

The U.S. Soccer Federation has shared with CONCACAF Gold Cup’s disciplinary committee a photo of bite marks on defender Omar Gonzalez’s shoulder, allegedly inflicted during one of several odd incidents in Wednesday’s quarterfinal between the U.S. men’s national soccer team and El Salvador in Philadelphia.

The disciplinary committee Thursday reached out to the USSF for any pertinent information regarding multiple commotions, federation spokesman Michael Kammarman told the Insider.

CONCACAF spokesman Brent Latham said he couldn’t confirm at this time that a formal investigation is underway.

Gonzalez, who had scored the first goal in the 2-0 victory at Lincoln Financial Field, appeared to have been bitten on the back of the right shoulder by Darwin Ceren in the 81st minute.
