100 Degree Hockey has learned that Texas forward Fredrik Karlstrom is out for the season, including playoffs, after sustaining a knee injury in Coachella Valley on March 12.
The injury may require surgery. Regardless of surgery, his recovery time will be six months, eliminating any chance for the Swede to play in the Calder Cup playoffs and pegging his return to Dallas training camp in September. The team has confirmed the injury and timetable for return.
In 47 games this year for Texas, Karlstrom has racked up 10-16=26 and sits at plus-4. He has earned several recalls to Dallas as well, playing in five total games with no points and a plus-1 rating.
