Tyler Pitlick broke in on a shorthanded rush in the final minute of the first period, and was turned away by New Jersey goalie Cory Schneider. The Devils then turned up ice and scored on the power play when Brian Boyle tipped in a Taylor Hall pass with 13.9 seconds left in the period.
