Dwight Howard was the best center in the NBA once.
That was a long time ago.
The best centers now are normally prolific rebounders (Andre Drummond, DeAndre Jordan).
And the best teams? Their centers are named Andrew Bogut (Golden State), Tim Duncan (San Antonio) and a combination of Tristan Thompson and Timofey Mozgov (Cleveland).
Hardly a who's who of legendary big men, although Duncan will certainly go down as such.
Howard? He's an occasionally dominant force, occasionally injured and always full of drama.
The Mavericks went after that package once and failed. Why would they do it again?
