I called the NBA Rising Stars game a "glorified scrimmage" in a post for SB Nation today, but really, it's not even that. It's the very last game you play at the rec center when everyone's too tired to run up and down the court and the gym's closing in 10 minutes and it's just too many opportunities of 3-on-2 or 2-on-1 and nobody even cares.
So yeah, eh, not great television. But hey, it leads to some pretty gaudy stat lines. Dwight Powell, the Mavericks' only representative at All-Star weekend, scored 12 points and pulled down 11 rebounds in 16 minutes on Friday, doing it on a very nice 6-of-9 shooting.
