What message do Cowboys send by cutting Lucky Whitehead? Not one aimed at Ezekiel Elliott, to start

OXNARD, Calif. -- Lucky Whitehead's days as a Cowboy were numbered the minute that Ryan Switzer's name was called out in the fourth round of the NFL draft. No one knew those days would expire just minutes before the club's first official workout.

It was an incensed Jason Garrett who met the media after Monday's walk-through. He fielded question after question about a TMZ report that Whitehead had been arrested for shoplifting last month in Virginia. He answered them with customary Garrett deflection ("We're gathering information and will respond accordingly"), but you could tell the head coach was upset about a player not informing the team of more silliness that seems to shadow the Cowboys right now.
