Day 2 was unlike past Jerry Jones drafts; here's how that benefited Cowboys

FRISCO -- The Cowboys, displaying patience and a strategic expertise not always evident on the second night of the draft, continued their extreme defensive makeover.

Colorado cornerback Chidobe Awuzie became the first defensive back taken by the franchise in the second round in 16 years. The club followed by taking Michigan corner Jourdan Lewis in the third round before Friday night was done.

With the acquisition of defensive end Taco Charlton one night earlier, the Cowboys used picks in the first, second and third round on defense for the first time since 1983.
