Cowboys decide to rest WR Dez Bryant on final day of practice at training camp

Dez Bryant wasn’t on the practice field when the Cowboys concluded training camp Thursday.

It was a precaution, not a setback.

The Pro Bowl receiver took the field with his teammates to start practice but returned to the locker room before they were done. He’s worked at varying degrees in practice for the last three weeks since injuring his hamstring but hasn’t gone through a full session since Aug. 5.

His absence is a strong indication that Bryant won’t play in Saturday night’s preseason home opener against Minnesota.

“Don’t really want to get into any specifics,’’ head coach Jason Garrett said.
