Pape Souare on the road to recovery as Crystal Palace defender is pictured for first time since M4 car crash

Pape Souare smiled for the camera as he was pictured for the first time since breaking his thighbone in a car crash.

The Crystal Palace defender is set for six months out after the smash on the M4 earlier this month but is at least now on the road to recovery as he gave a thumbs up in an image posted to Instagram on Wednesday afternoon.

The 26-year-old told his social media followers: 'Step by step #Dieuestaucontrol #Godisincontrol #thanks #everytingiseveryting.'

Following the crash, Eagles boss Alan Pardew confirmed there was no significant long-term damage sustained despite his broken thighbone, the common name for the femur, before suggesting that Souare could yet appear for the Eagles again before the end of the season.
