OMAHA, Neb. -- Having already claimed the BIG EAST Player of the Week honor, Creighton senior Baylor Scheierman added to his accolades by earning Oscar Robertson National Player of the Week honors from the USBWA (United States Basketball Writers Association).
Scheierman is the third player in program history to be honored with National Player of the Week recognition by the USBWA, joining Marcus Zegarowski (Feb. 25, 2020) and four-time winner Doug McDermott (Dec. 27, 2011, Dec. 18, 2012, Jan. 14, 2014, and Feb. 18, 2014).
For the 2023-24 season, the USBWA expanded its national player of the week program that has been affiliated with the Oscar Robertson Trophy since the 2009-10 season.
