McALLEN, Texas -- Sydney Gillespie fired three consecutive rounds of 77 to lead the Creighton women's golf team to an eighth-place finish at the UTRGV Invitational in McAllen, Texas, on Tuesday.
The meet was held at McAllen Country Club, which played to a par 71 and was 5,924 yards. Tuesday's final round played to a par 70 after water damage on Monday night caused the 16th hole to be modified from a par 4 to a par 3.
Texas State won the meet by 21 strokes over Texas A&M-Corpus Christi thanks to a three-round total of 884 (290-285-309).
