Gregg Berhalter enters his fourth MLS SuperDraft as Crew SC’s coach and sporting director with an unchanged outlook on the success of college players in America’s top level of professional soccer.
He does, however, have a much different pool of players to evaluate.
Berhalter has yet to make a top-10 selection in the SuperDraft, but could make as many as two in this year’s draft, which begins today.
The Crew, which finished ninth in the Eastern Conference in 2016 after an 8-14-12 season, enters with the fifth and ninth overall picks, the latter coming from New England as a part of the Kei Kamara trade last May.
