On the mound: Jon Gray was excellent for his first three innings, but he faltered a bit in the fourth, losing sharp command on his breaking pitches. Gray allowed five hits and two earned runs, struck out four, walked none and needed 71 pitches. Gray’s Cactus League ERA is 2.13 after 14 u2154 innings. He’s whiffed 14 and walked only one. … Left-hander Jake McGee continues to struggle; he gave up a triple and a double in the A’s one-run sixth, but his fastball did hit 96 mph.
