The big-league education of Jon Gray continues Friday night at PCN Park against the Pirates.
The Rockies' prized pitching prospect will be making his first start since the worst start of his infant career. How the 23-year-old right-hander responds will reveal a lot about his development.
Manager Walt Weiss is confident Gray will rebound.
"He's been impressive the way he's handled himself up here," Weiss said. "He's a lot more confident than when I saw him in spring training, a lot more convicted about what he does. He's in a good place."
There was no doubting the exasperation in Gray's voice last Friday night, however, after he was hammered by the New York Mets at Coors Field.
