Rain, sleet and snow postpone Rockies-Pirates at Coors Field — just in time

Walt Weiss, braving a 38-degree chill in shorts and sneakers in his dugout Thursday morning, looked out at a tarp-covered Coors Field and said what Rockies fans may have been thinking.

"I'm not gonna kick and scream if we don't play," he said.

The Rockies' bullpen is taxed to the seams. And Colorado was 1-5 six games into a seven-game homestand.

The finale, though, will come later. Rain, sleet and snow forced the umpiring crew to postpone Thursday's afternoon game between the Rockies and Pirates.

Officials were working to determine a makeup. But the most likely day to play would be Aug.
