Mets win the arms race

NEW YORK — All this week at Citi Field, the Rockies have seen what terrific young pitching can do.

They've seen it work — for the New York Mets.

The Mets rode their young rotation into first place, a position they solidified with a four-game sweep of the Rockies. Twenty-two-year-old Noah Syndergaard wasn't as dominating on Thursday as Matt Harvey and Jacob deGrom were Tuesday and Wednesday, but he was plenty good enough to give the Mets a 12-3 win.

Eddie Butler wasn't good enough, again.

The 24-year-old Butler was a Rockies' first-round draft pick in 2012.
