Rapids fell Timbers on Alan Gordon’s fiery header

Alan Gordon picked a good time for his second goal of the season.

His header in the 89th minute gave the Rapids a come-from-behind 2-1 victory over the Portland Timbers in an MLS game Saturday night at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park, 2-1.

It was the Rapids’ fourth consecutive victory at home.

The Timbers, who are in second place in the Western Conference, dropped to 2-5-1 on the road with their fourth consecutive loss away from home.

The Rapids had their opportunities early. In the ninth minute, forward Dominique Badji had a left-footed attempt blocked before getting the ball back for a header that went right into the hands of goalkeeper Jake Gleeson.
