Pablo Mastroeni finishes second in MLS coach of the year voting

Tough week for the Rapids. On Sunday they were knocked out of the MLS Cup Playoffs after suffering their first home loss of 2016 and on Thursday it was announced that coach Pablo Mastroeni was beaten out in the MLS coach of the year voting.

Shhh. No one tell Rapids goalkeeper Tim Howard.

“He’s hands down the MLS coach of the year,” Howard said after the Rapids final regular season game last month. “It’s a landslide. If he doesn’t win it, it’s a crime.”

Mastroeni earned 32.97 percent of the vote, finishing behind FC Dallas coach Oscar Pareja who got 34.
