Taylor Kornieck continued an impressive season Sunday by scoring the deciding goal in No. 22 Colorado's 3-2 upset of No. 10 California in Berkeley, Calif.
It was the highest-ranked opponent CU has beaten since 2010, and Kornieck's winner came at the death — in the final moment of the second period in extra time. The freshman headed in a free kick taken by teammate Stephanie Zuniga from near midfield.
"Everything was happening so fast with the clock winding down and seeing 10 seconds left and people screaming at me to go, go, go," Zuniga said. "It was just really important to take a deep breath, stay composed and really place the ball right where they wanted it.
