LAS VEGAS – Junior Nuria Ormeno Ruiz advanced to the finals of the USTA/ITA Mountain Regional with two more decisive wins in the quarterfinals and semifinals here Saturday.
Ormeno Ruiz defeated Sonja Rodosevic from Denver, 7-5, 3-6, 2-1 ret in the quarterfinals and then rolled in the semifinals, taking down the Pioneer’s Maureen Slattery, 6-4, 6-0. She is now 9-0 in singles action this season and has only lost two sets in those nine wins, improving to 18-2 in sets this season. She had blanked her opponent in a 6-0 set three times this season, all three coming at Regionals.
