Buffzone.com confirmed on Monday a FootballScoop.com report that new Colorado head football coach Mel Tucker is in the process of hiring Jay Johnson as offensive coordinator.
Johnson has spent the past two years as offensive quality control analyst at Georgia.
Tucker, hired as CU's head coach on Wednesday, was the defensive coordinator at Georgia the previous three years and worked alongside Johnson with the Bulldogs. Now, he is giving Johnson a chance to return to a coordinator role.
Johnson was the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at Minnesota in 2016. Prior to that, he served as offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at Louisiana from 2011-15.
