The Colorado Avalanche just hired exactly who you thought it would to be its new TV play-by-play announcer.

The Avalanche and Altitude Sports & Entertainment have promoted Marc Moser to be their television play-by-play announcer and hired Conor McGahey to call games from the radio booth, according to a source.

McGahey replaces Moser, who has been the play-by-play radio guy for the last 10 years. McGahey is a Colorado native who was the pregame, intermission, and postgame host for the Vegas Golden Knights on AT&T SportsNet last season — in addition to calling University of Denver hockey and Colorado Rapids games for Altitude TV.

McGahey attended DU and was the public address announcer at Pioneers games at Magness Arena before serving in the same capacity for the Avalanche, Colorado Buffaloes football and the Broncos.
