Bednar was asked to respond to Subban’s double-down statement on Wednesday.
“I think that play happens many times a night in different scenarios,” Bednar said. “I looked at that play and said, ‘Maybe if he catches him and the ref sees it and he’s looking at it, maybe he can get called for roughing. Maybe.’ I think it’s happening all over the league. I think that’s the competitiveness of it.
